A special day in history! August 16, 2009 was the inaugural Erica's Wish run. Specifically held on Erica's 13th Birthday to raise awareness of childhood cancer. Erica was diagnosed at the age of 12 with Osteosarcoma. The same cancer as Terry Fox. A leg amputation, 67 rounds of chemo and several trials later; Erica won that battle. Soon after the 5 word, 5 year plan was decided upon
BELIEVE. COURAGE. DETERMINATION. STRENGTH. WISDOM.
The Erica's Wish Blanket program began in July 2010. The premise is to comfort the children in Oncology at SickKids Hospital by means of a blanket just as Erica was comforted by hers. 75 blankets were handed out that day to children on the Oncology floor and since then, 30 blankets are delivered each month.
The race stopped after the August 2014 event to allow Erica to follow her passion of Paracanoe. Erica was off to the 2016 RIO Paralympics to represent Canada. She did amazing and is now back at it training for 2021.
The blanket program never stopped.
We are proud to be a supporter of this important cause.
Our first ever Erica's Wish Virtual Race was a success! We are absolutely thrilled with the turnout and everyone that continues to support our program.
Stay tuned for 2021 plans!
